So How Did We Define "Western North Carolina?"
When discussions began about developing this Website on the Charlotte Radio-Info Board, it was decided that we would use Interstate 77 as the dividing line for stations to be included in wncradiotv.com. If you look at the map above, you will notice that Rowan, Cabarrus and Union Counties are included, along with Yadkin and Surry Counties. I decided that these 5 counties would be included because 1. they also contained portions of I-77, even though they "technically" aren't in the mountains (Surry and Yadkin Counties), yet their stations are known for service in the WNC region and 2. they were part of the Charlotte metro, so they contain signals that can be heard in many areas of the region (Rowan, Cabarrus and Union Counties). We may add or subtract counties; I'm waiting for input from you on what we need to have here!
Editors Wanted
As I mentioned on the message board, this Website will only be as good as the content contributed to it. While I worked in radio in Western North Carolina for 13 years, I only have intimate knowledge of a few stations. That's where I need you. Please submit stories, photos, scans of rate cards, logos, bumper stickers, whatever you may have so we can include it on the site. You will receive a byline for the contributions you make.
I'm also looking for old airchecks, jingles and anything else that you think would be "cool" for this Website. Please send the files in .mp3 format (for audio) or QuickTime, Real or Windows Media format (for video).
This is a labor of love. I'm volunteering the hosting space and doing the design work for free, so please help us out in collecting and preserving memorabilia of WNC radio and TV stations.
