I'm going to add more information on this page in the near future, but, suffice to say, here is a bit about the developer of wncradiotv.com.
I am David Biddix, and I worked in radio for 13 years, with several stops, including stints at WSKY and WKSF in Asheville and WTOE in Spruce Pine. I also worked at WHNI in Mebane, NC and WDCG in Durham, NC while I was in college. I left broadcasting in 1993 and have been working in the North Carolina Community College System as Webmaster of Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine, where I've been for the past 12 years.
This site arose out of discussions posted on the Radio-Info Board where we discuss all things radio. It was mentioned that a book needed to be developed to document the rich heritage of radio stations in this region. Since most of us are broke, I thought that a Website would be a good alternative, so here we are.
Who knows? Maybe someday we can take the information we gather here and put it into a book format. But until then, here is a great way for us to preserve the memories and heritage of our stations.
