The Legends Live On...

There's a lot of interesting "stuff" about Western North Carolina radio, and we're gathering it here for you.

Broadcasting in this region began in 1922 when WBT, Charlotte became the first station in the Carolinas. Asheville said hello to WWNC a few years later. Amazingly, many small towns in the region developed their own voices as broadcast stations began popping up all over in the 1950s.

Editors Wanted

As I mentioned on the message board, this Website will only be as good as the content contributed to it. While I worked in radio in Western North Carolina for 13 years, I only have intimate knowledge of a few stations. That's where I need you. Please submit stories, photos, scans of rate cards, logos, bumper stickers, whatever you may have so we can include it on the site. You will receive a byline for the contributions you make.

I'm also looking for old airchecks, jingles and anything else that you think would be "cool" for this Website. Please send the files in .mp3 format (for audio) or QuickTime, Real or Windows Media format (for video).

This is a labor of love. I'm volunteering the hosting space and doing the design work for free, so please help us out in collecting and preserving memorabilia of WNC radio and TV stations.
